THE PILATES EQUIPMENT

Some people have compared a Pilates studio to a medieval torture chamber, with all it's straps, chains, and springs... but I promise its not that frightening!

Most of the Pilates equipment uses springs for resistance, creating a safe, no impact way to train the body.
Our Pilates equipment includes a Reformer, a Tower, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, and a Smalll Barrel, with a Wunda Chair and Cadillac being added soon.

THE REFORMER

The Pilates reformer is the most popular piece of Pilates equipment. Using your arms and legs to push and pull against spring resistance on a flat, moving carriage, reformer exercises range from the simple to the advanced and are easily modified to fit every client’s needs. When using a reformer, your body will be properly aligned, elongating the body and musculature in a safe manner that protects your joints.

THE TOWER AND CADILLAC

The Pilates Cadillac or Tower are extremely adaptable pieces of Pilates equipment. The Tower is a more compact version of the Cadillac. Unlike the Reformer, which moves back and forth on metal rails, the Cadillac/Tower remain stationary, which makes it ideal for beginners as there are no moving parts. It lets you target legs, arms, bottom or any part of your body, while still using your core. It is a total body strengthening workout, without stress on your joints.
Like the Reformer, the springs of the Cadillac and Tower provide resistance that can change bodies quickly. Like all Pilates repertoire, they can become harder, not easier, over time as you become more familiar with the subtleties of the exercises and at recognizing your own body’s habits.

WUNDA CHAIR

The chair is a small versatile piece of equipment. Resembling a backless chair, the Wunda Chair consists of a wooden base topped by a padded seat that doubles as the world’s smallest exercise Mat. This means less stability and more of a balance challenge.

THE LADDER BARREL

The Ladder Barrel consists of a short but wide ladder connected to a Barrel which is set to the height of the ladder; it also doesn’t have any springs or moving parts.
The rounded shape of the barrel allows for supported spinal movement and has many uses but is most often used to  strengthen and stretch.

THE SPINE CORRECTOR

The spine corrector is similar to the ladder barrel as they both have the rounded hump shape to allow for spinal support.
They are mainly used for stretching and strengthening exercises that focus on the hips, spine, abdominals, neck and shoulders.
